Why choose DSA ?
DSA seeks to broaden our recognition of talents and achievements beyond academic grades.
It presents an opportunity for students with such talents to be directly admitted into a school that can further hone their aptitudes and interests.
The following types of schools currently admit the following proportions of their Secondary 1 non-IP intake through the DSA
INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS - up to 20%
AUTONOMOUS SCHOOLS - up to 10%
SCHOOLS WITH DISTINCTIVE PROGRAMMES - up to 5%
Starting from the 2018 DSA Exercise (for the 2018 P6 cohort), these schools will be able to take in up to 20% of their intake through the DSA. This expansion allows more students to be admitted directly into schools that can better nurture their strengths and interests through specific programmes.
Specialised Independent Schools (viz. NUS High School, School of the Arts, School of Science and Technology) have full discretion in admissions, and take in 100% of their students through the DSA. Schools that offer the Integrated Programme (IP) have full discretion when admitting students to the IP, although the actual proportion admitted through the DSA varies from school to school.
